Methods used by Sci-Tech Paranormal

We feel that the proper way to conduct an investigation is to control as many variables as possible.

That means we identify everything in a space to eliminate possible contamination of the evidence we capture. The list changes depending on the location. Our methods have to change for different locations but the foundation remains the same. In order to understand our methodology, you have to understand the scientific method.

The scientific method involves posing a hypothesis, account for all variables, design a controlled experiment, observing the data, and drawing conclusions based on those observations. We approach each investigation with the same principles. We listen to the description of events and decide if an investigation is warranted. We then identify as many variables as possible, taking into account the clients beliefs, health, state of mind and knowledge. We conduct a preliminary interview and location scouting. We take the gathered data and design an investigation. During the investigation, we experiment with the variables and attempt to find natural explanations for the events. We then review our data which often includes photos, video, audio, sensor readings, and personal experiences. We again search for possible natural explanations for important data highlights. When all those factors are taken into account, we see if anything is left unexplained. Then we draw appropriate conclusions based on the data.

One important point to keep in mind is that we do not dismiss claims of paranormal activity simply because we do not catch anything we can call evidence. Evidence is very rare and incontrovertible evidence is the holy grail. Paranormal activity does not happen on cue and most investigations conclude with no activity.

Sci-Tech Paranormal will never finish an investigation and simply drop the client. We are always open to further investigation if the events continue or the client requests further investigation. While we do try to find possible natural causes for events, we do not use them to try to disprove a clients' claim. We use it to offer the client possible alternatives. If no natural causes can be found to explain the events, we will escalate the investigation to the next level. We are connected to people and resources that can help clients deal with or attempt to stop paranormal activity.

Some clients prefer natural explanations while others are hoping for paranormal activity. We do not skew our investigations to fit the client's wants. We will never say a place is haunted simply because the client wants it to be haunted. We gather the evidence, present our opinions and conclusions, then leave the final judgment up to the client. Our role is to gather evidence and hopefully help the client understand the events they are experiencing.
